So progress us going slow (very slow) yet we are making progress (slowly), I’ve been trying to get my cousin to be our translator yet (slowly) he doesn’t pick up his phone. (lager). Anyways I’m still working on the header (slowly) I’m just having a hard time putting on colors that is all. So hopefully we can cram and get things turned in (not slowly) so we can continue on with other work we can focus on.

Crunch Time

25Mar10

So among all the stuff that’s due and all the procrastination that I’ve done, I finally asked Sophomore Dat Ngo, if he’ll do our documentary. He said he had to ask his dad, but he’s willing (: I feel more accomplished, finally! But I’m still in “about to freak out mode” because edited documentaries are due next Friday x___x This is what I get for being sick and then being a bum. I hope we can get everything shot this weekend, latest by Monday/Tuesday, and then begins the crazy person editing that is about to go down. Dang.

Anyways, on a lighter note, scripts are due tomorrow, on Friday. Our group has the ideas already, so all we have to do is come up with sequences and type it all up! Yes (: I will leave this with a quote that’s been used numerous times, but is still so influential.

Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Gandhi

so we got the whole idea down and what were mostly going to do for the project. We just need to find two different people that are suffering the language barrier in there family. As for now, we will begin writing the question for the interview all three of us. We had a talk with our teacher and she explained the whole projects meaning to us more better. That we should get more into it and put ourself in the project. if we don’t then how will we get our subjects to let us in there life, if we wont even talk about it. After thinking it over… she was right(of course she’s the teacher). So yeah i suffer from language barrier in my family. i have some understanding of the language and could speck it. But not too good since i could barley keep up in a conversation in my language since i never got it taught to me well. so thats it for now.

Hmm…

22Mar10

So last week we had our meetings with our teacher and after our discussion that whole day and this weekend made me think am I avoiding my problem even if it is a problem. I to have the language barrier between my parents, but it some what confuses me. That I do have good memories with my parents mainly my father, but not so much my mother. Occasionally my mother will tell me to drink milk to get bigger since I’m the shortest amongst of the boys and the skinniest. My father in the other hand he can speak English I mean he’s the one that helped me with the History of our families project, but I can’t tell if he is the Ideal father that will give good advice to his son. The thing is I’m some what content in my life so why should I bring about this problem if there even is  a problem in my family.

This week we had our first meeting with our mentor teacher, Mrs. Paul. We talked about how our project was going and what our direction was for both the first and second documentary. She told us that language is a very sensitive topic and it might take some time to get people to open up on the level we want them to. She said that if we wanted good results, to examine our own relationships with our parents, in regards to communication. Although I don’t personally face any language issues when speaking to my mom, the other members in my group do face this issue with their own parent. I think I may have to lean on them when it comes to getting a deeper understanding of this issue.

So this week I got an ear infection. I haven’t been to school in four days and I feel like I missed a lot. I wanted to go to school, but my mom said I couldn’t. She didn’t want me to infect other students. I hope my group got some work done, while I was gone.

So far so good

09Mar10

I’m in charge of design ha, well like the topic, so far so good, like what Jazmine said we started off slow on our idea, but now that we found our idea and tackling it, we are doing pretty well for ourselves. Hopefully by next week I will be able to finish the header and fix some of the problems in the blogs. In the future we will have more pictures upon our group project that we are tackling on.

First Week

08Mar10

Hmm well in the beginning we didn’t have a idea we were pretty stuck. Trying to figure out what to do for our project “We Are Mount Diablo” a documentary on multiculturalism. But then we got the idea of focusing on language barriers with students and their parents and how difficult it could be to communicate with you parent if you know little or nothing of the language they speak, so you cant really build a good relationship with them. So that’s pretty much the plan for now.

Blast Off!

05Mar10

So we’re starting a new project called We are Mount Diablo. I’m not all that excited for the project to be honest. I’m not a big fan of shooting documentaries, I think mostly because I can’t control all aspects of the project. My group started off slow when we were coming up with a concept to focus on but we finally got one on Wednesday. We’re going to be focusing on the language barriers between parent and children. Though I don’t like documentary style, I think by the end I’ll have warmed up to it a bit more. This is all I have to say for now. Stay tuned for updates on how the project’s going and other things project related!
